Tool Design

We develop a suitable tool design, cutting geometry and material specification. Any important dimensions, tolerances and application details are confirmed before manufacture.

Manufacture

The tool is manufactured using the agreed specification in PCD, TCT, solid carbide, HSS or another suitable tooling material.

Inspection and Support

Finished tooling is inspected against the approved design. Manufacturing records can then support servicing, replacement tools and repeat orders.

What we need to prepare a quotation

The more application information available at the quotation stage, the easier it is to recommend the correct tool design and provide an accurate price. A fully detailed drawing is helpful, but we can also work from an existing cutter, finished component or machining requirement.

Drawing or Sample

Supply a dimensioned drawing, CAD file, sample cutter, finished component or clear sketch showing the required profile and critical dimensions.

Component Material

Tell us the material being machined, including its grade, coating, laminate or composite construction where relevant.

Machine and Toolholding

Provide the machine type, spindle speed range, toolholder or bore details, rotation direction and any restrictions on tool diameter or length.

Production Requirements

Include the expected production quantity, required finish, tolerances, feed method and any existing tool-life or machining problems.

PCD Tooling

Inspection and Quality Control

Finished tooling is inspected against the agreed dimensions and specification using suitable measuring and inspection equipment before despatch.

Lead Times

Lead time depends on the complexity of the design, tooling material, quantity and availability of any specialist components. An estimated delivery time is provided with the quotation and confirmed when the order is placed.

Servicing and Repeat Orders

Where suitable, tooling can be sharpened, retipped or repaired. Retained manufacturing records also help us reproduce replacement tools and repeat previously approved designs.
