Prima Tooling has supplied PCD milling tools for demanding machining applications since 2008, with tooling used by aerospace, automotive and engineering companies worldwide.

Our PCD milling cutters are designed for high-speed machining of non-ferrous metals and highly abrasive composite materials where tool life, dimensional accuracy and surface finish are important.

Materials Suitable for PCD Milling Tools

PCD tooling is particularly suited to machining materials including:

  • Aluminium and non-ferrous alloys
  • Copper and brass
  • Metal Matrix Composites (MMC)
  • Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP)
  • Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic (GFRP)
  • GLARE®
  • Graphite
  • Model board
  • Phenolic composite panels
  • Other highly abrasive composite materials

PCD milling tools for non-ferrous metals and abrasive composites

Flat Head PCD End Mills

Our flat head PCD end mills use solid carbide bodies with PCD cutting edges for high-speed milling applications.

They are suitable for creating pockets, slots and contours in aluminium, non-ferrous alloys and abrasive composite materials.

Torus PCD End Mills

Torus PCD end mills are manufactured with a corner radius, solid carbide body and PCD cutting edges.

They are suitable for high-speed pocketing, slotting and contouring applications where a radiused corner is required.

These tools are commonly used for machining aluminium, MMCs, CFRP and other abrasive non-ferrous or composite materials.

Ball Nose PCD End Mills

Our ball nose PCD end mills are designed for high-speed 3D machining and profiling.

The combination of a solid carbide body and PCD cutting edges makes them suitable for applications involving aluminium, MMCs, CFRP and other abrasive composite materials.

Serviceable PCD Milling Cutters

Prima Tooling's PCD milling cutters can be serviced and sharpened, helping extend useful tool life and reduce overall tooling costs.

Read our PCD tool sharpening guide for more information about servicing PCD tooling.

Standard and Bespoke PCD Milling Tools

Standard diameters are available from 3 mm to 20 mm, with special tooling manufactured to customer requirements.

Where a standard end mill is not suitable, we can manufacture bespoke PCD tooling to suit the required diameter, profile, reach and machining application.

For larger applications, including 5-axis gantry machining, segmented PCD tool designs can also be produced.
